Here's an interesting article from Eric Sink that describes a few things about his experience starting a software company.
The most "a-propos" item for me is his statement stating: Think twice before you get into the developer tools market. I think he makes a few good points about that market and it makes me think about our own Code review add-in for Visual Studio .NET. Our main driver for going in that market was that we know the customer fairly well. We are the customer. But is that really enough.
